"The Least Bittern is one of the most difficult North American marsh birds to spot," per AllAboutBirds website,and I couldn't agree more! Even while working to get this capture, I could only get the head or part of the body or maybe the feet...it would not come out of the reeds. They walk on the reed stalks in order to feed from water that would otherwise be to deep like the wading strategies of other herons.
Scientic name: Ixobrychus exilis
