American Avocets in Flight by Debra Martz I had been out bird watching at several locations in Port Aransas, TX and it was time to go. After watching these Avocets feed way off in the distance, I had given up on getting a closer view. I was walking off the boardwalk, heading to my car, when for some reason I decided to stop and look back one more time! They gave me this opportunity for a departing shot!!!
Captured in April, therefore head and neck are rust-colors opposed to non-breeding when they are gray.
