Rufous-crowned Sparrow on Lichen Encrusted Branch No2 by Debra Martz Sometimes it turns out best to not get your wish. This was one of those cases for me. I wished this Rufous-crowned Sparrow would fly closer to the trail but in the end it flew deeper into the woods. When I looked at this photo on my computer, well, I really really liked the lichen-encrusted branch where this sparrow had chosen to land. The lichen, with its color and textures, brought life and character to the dead branch and added to the overall composition. So, I got my bird and I got a cool piece of nature, too!
Captured this image while hiking the trails of South Llano River State Park of Texas. I've added a digital organic texture to the image. Also, available without the texture.
