Description
Lark Sparrow by Debra Martz The Lark Sparrow is more easily identified than most due to its bold face pattern. Most of the time they walk along the ground foraging for food. For several days, I hiked some of the same trails over and over in search of 2 endangered species (Golden-checked Warbler and Black-capped Vireo which I eventually found). However, on those hiking days, where two trails intersected, there was a pair of mating Lark Sparrows....always on the ground, with the male displaying and offering a twig of grass. On this particular day he flew up into this tree and she soon followed.
