Description
Rodeo Opry - Oklahoma City - Stockyards by Debra Martz Took a short stop in the historic stockyard district of Oklahoma City for lunch with plans of exploring on foot. The exploration was made short as rain showers began to fall. This music theater hosts live music each Saturday night in a family friendly environment. "The Rodeo Opry grew from a love of music and a love of family, and has become an important part of Oklahoma’s musical culture and history. Starting as a backyard gathering of family and friends who loved to play and sing country music, the Opry was formed and grew under the guidance of Granville “Grant” Leftwich (1929 – 2006). Starting at the OKC National Guard Armory as a family-oriented country show, the “Oklahoma Opry” was officially launched in 1977 in the renovated theater once called “Knob Hill” located in the Capitol Hill district of Oklahoma City. Later, moving into the historic Stockyards district in 2004, the Rodeo Opry found its new name and new home in the Rodeo Theater where it now thrives. Weekly Saturday night shows introduce talented new performers who share the stage with special guests, OKC favorites, and the professional Opry house band in a family-friendly, live music show proclaimed “Oklahoma’s Official Country Music Show.” Quoted from their website /www.ohfo.org/venue/ Image copyright of Debra Martz 0180723-DSC_2581.NEF
