Hiking Trail to West Spanish Peak by Debra Martz No, we did not hike to the summit of West Spanish Peak. From the Cuchara Pass on HWY 12, we took the Forest Service Road to Cordova Pass. It was about 6 miles on a rough dirt road that increased in elevation from 10,000 to 11,240 ft. This is the high point, pass, on the FSR to Cordova. Several hiking trailheads are located there and we chose to hike to Vista Point which shared the trail to the Peak for a ways through part of the forest. Shortly after the "Y" you find yourself out in this open field with a view of both the peak and partial trail leading to it.
