Description
Tracks in the Sand Dunes by Debra Martz
While it is illegal to drive in the dunes, there are always those few that disobey. With that said, I sort of liked the patterns it left but in NO way do I promote those that do this. The sand dunes are part of the protection for the island in the event of major storms. Driving on the dunes breaks them down in size and strength thus the law. In addition, it disrupts the habitat for wildlife.
Living only a little over a mile from the beach gives me ample opportunites to go there. And, it never gets old! As the locals say, "every day at the beach is different." It's different due to tides which determine a wide or narrow beach. It's different due to the winds which shape patterns in the sand. It's different seasonally which brings in different sea shells and different migrating birds. And this is just to name a few ways of how it is different!
