Description
Blue Crab by Debra Martz (update: since I uploaded this picture, the Blue Crab stands no more...destroyed Aug 25th, 2017 by Hurricane Harvey...unknown if it will be rebuilt again)
Description I had prior to Hurricane Harvey: The World's Largest Blue Crab greats you as you arrive to the beach in Rockport, Texas. It sits on the waterfront, at the entrance to Rockport Beach Park, on the corner of Seabreeze Drive and E. Laurel St.
Rockport had the World's Largest Blue Crab from the 1950s until the 1970s. The original big blue crab was made of paper mache and chicken wire and sat on the roof of a local crab cake restaurant. Battered by hurricanes, it was removed and buried in 1976 -- but Rockport never forgot it. In 2012 a new one was unveiled. The new Blue Crab sculpture is better built of aluminum and fiberglass , and even larger than the original. It took nine months to complete, and six days just to mount Big Blue on his new pylons. The new crab measures 27 feet from the back fin to the front claw and 25 feet of legs from end to end.

Not yet, as far as I know, I've been trying to find out. I no longer live in the area.
