Portrait Of A Pelican by Debra Martz
.........................
I decided to take my camera with my zoom lens and go to the beach with hopes of getting some bird photos. As it turned out, after several hours, the birds around my location were mainly seagulls and that was not what I was hoping to capture this time. Brown Pelicans flew high over head and at times out over the waves but still not what I was hoping to get. So where would I happen to get this close-up of a Brown Pelican? From the back deck at home! There it was sitting on the railing of our neighbors house. Now my only problem was that my background was houses across the canal and I didn't want that either. So to my belly I went and when I shot upward I had the background I wanted. Many thanks to the pelican for giving me the time to adjust before it flew!
