Description
Squadron Of Pelicans by Debra Martz My day could not have started any better! I had been seeing the number of American White Pelicans increase around a distant island on the lake but on the morning of Oct 1st I drove to the Sandy Beach area and was extremely surprised to see large numbers of the migratory American White Pelicans. This is just a very small portion; the "line" of pelicans as seen here at the dam continued all the way to that distant island. Numbers estimated to be above 20,000 of these migrating birds! A once in a lifetime experience...unless I happen to be here at the right time on the right day next year! And I might add that I loved the colorful glow on the water thanks to the rising sun.
