Description
Tropic Ditch - Bryce Canyon - Utah by Debra Martz Yes, it had been raining, several days before we arrived at Bryce Canyon and light rain on and off on this day. The Mossy Cave Trail follows the Tropic Ditch in Water Canyon until you finally cross a bridge and hike to a higher elevation in order to reach either the waterfall to the right or the cave to the left. (Signage info: Completed in 1892, Mormon pioneers, using primitive tools labored for more than two years to complete a 10 mile canal, Tropic Ditch, to bring water to the semi-arid valley. To reduce the amount of necessary digging, they planned the route using natural water courses whenever possible, including the normally dry wash known as Water Canyon you see before you.)
