The Breakers Side View Newport Rhode Island ©Debra Martz While walking in the area of the Mansions of Newport, RI, one street took us alongside The Breakers as we headed for the Cliff Walk. The Breakers was built from 1893 to 1895 by Cornelius Vanderbilt II, one of the richest men in America. It was said to be everything a millionaire of the Gilded Age could want in a summer "cottage". After touring the inside, I would say it was more than anyone could want...in a summer getaway home!!
