A beautiful place to go bird watching in south Texas is at the Rabb Plantation located on the Rio Grande. Before heading out for birding, you stop in the plantation to pay for not only bird watching on the trails but to admire the furnished rooms of the old Sugar Plantation home. Another bit of nature exists on the south side of the home where a lovely garden is maintained.
