Description
Snowy Plover Wave Jumping by Debra Martz
I always enjoy bird watching and especially love wintertime on the Gulf of Mexico in south Texas when all the migratory birds arrive. This particular day there were so many small shorebirds scurrying around that it was hard to keep up with them. There were Snowy Plovers, Piping Plovers, Sanderlings, Ruddy Turnstones and so many more. The snowy plovers are small, 6-1/2" birds but don't let that fool you! Boy are they fast beach runners. This one had scurried out behind a wave in search of food and was caught off guard as the wave made a quick return!
