Sacred Datura Bud Unfurling by Debra Martz Beautiful but poisonous and may be fatal if ingested by humans, livestock, or pets. It was growing wild throughout Zion National Park. Datura wrighti is sacred to some Native Americans and has a history of having been used in ceremonies and rites of passage by Chumash, Tongva, and others....however, not all survived the rites of passage.
