Description
Queens Staircase Nassau Bahamas ©Debra Martz The Queen's Staircase, aka the 66 steps, is located in the Fort Fincastle Historic Complex. It was built by 600 enslaved people, who carved out the area from solid limestone rock between 1793 and 1794.It's purpose was to provide a direct route from the city center to Fort Fincastle, a battery that guarded the entrance to Nassau Harbor. Digital brushes and filters have been applied to my original photograph.
