Mistletoe (Phoradendron tomentosum) Seven species in Texas, but only one in our area. This species is also in OK, LA and AL. It has photosynthetic green stems, but is parasitic on the host tree, usually mesquite... Host plant for the Great Purple Hairstreak." Unfortunately I did not see the Great Purple Hairstreak butterfly but I did see a beautiful Monarch earlier the same day. "Butterfly on Lantana" in my collection gallery "Butterflies Bees Insects."
