Description
Magnolia Warbler - Paradise Pond by Debra Martz
Paradise Pond is a small area in Port Aransas, TX where many migratory birds spend some time during spring and fall migrations. On May 6th, I tracked this little warbler up and down the boardwalk and back down the sidewalk where it finally flew out of the twisting, tangle of limbs and gave me a nice view!
Cool fact from allaboutbirds.org
"The name of the species was coined in 1810 by Alexander Wilson, who collected a specimen from a magnolia tree in Mississippi. He actually used the English name "Black-and-yellow Warbler" and used "magnolia" for the Latin species name, which became the common name over time."
