Description
Louis Armstrong - Jazz Musician - New Orleans by Debra Martz
On the edge of the French Quarter in New Orleans, LA, I happened upon a most interesting and beautiful park; The Louis Armstrong Park sometimes called Congo Square. There were many bronzes of famous jazz musicians, historical markers, ponds, fountains and artworks. And just to the left of the larger than life, Armstrong bronze was the Mahalla Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts.

Louis Armstrong was a trumpeter, bandleader, singer, soloist, film star and comedian. Considered one of the most influential artists in jazz history, he is known for songs like "Star Dust," "La Via En Rose" and "What a Wonderful World."
In a city famous for its musical traditions, perhaps no other single location claims as much musical and cultural history and importance as Louis Armstrong. Located at 701 N. Rampart Street on the edge of the French Quarter, the park is dedicated to one of the City's most celebrated native sons and to the tradition of jazz in the City.
