Description
Hiking Along the Rio Grande in South Texas by Debra Martz After a week or more of cold and rainy weather, finally I had a beautiful day for hiking along the Rio Grande....and bird watching. This is one of my favorite places for bird watching in south Texas. It is quiet most of the time with only a handful of other people from time to time. It's so peaceful that it makes it easy to hear the birds calling and singing. And so beautiful that it's hard to believe this is winter; January 24th.

I lived 8 miles from the Rio Grande in the Rio Grande Valley almost my whole like. Makes me homesick. Donna, Texas near Weslaco, Texas.

I know the area well as I lived 17 years on North Padre Island! Went to the border all the time...
