Description
Wild Rivers Recreattion Area is located within the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument near Questa, New Mexico. From highway 522, the 13-mile, paved Backcountry Byway provides access to the many scenic views. From pullouts one can take in views of the rivers cut 800 feet into the gorge or the landscape in the opposite direction.
The average elevation here is 7,500 feet with various mountains surrounding the plains with peaks from 10,000-13,000 feet. I simply cannot be in north central New Mexico without making the beautiful drive to this national land which is operated under the Bureau of Land Management.
