Great Salt Plains Lake of Oklahoma by Debra Martz This lake is located within the Great Salt Plains State Park of Northern Oklahoma and shares some boundary lines with the Salt Plains Wildlife Refuge which is comprised of salt leftover from an ocean that covered Oklahoma in prehistoric times. Therefore, this lake is considered to be a saltwater lake being about half as salty as the ocean. This image is the scene you will find from the south spillway area; the spillway view is behind me and has a multilevel discharge flow.
