Galloping Goose 5 - Wolf Creek Area
We arrived in Chama, NM in September and I spotted a Galloping Goose at the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad depot. Immediately, we went to the ticket office to see if it would be taking any passengers on a tour. Bingo! It would do a few runs beginning the last week of September and we would still be in town. Bought our tickets and were told to be there at 8 am with departure at 8:30 am with return at 5:30 pm. What we were NOT told was that the Goose would make multiple stops along the route allowing passengers the opportunity to exit the Goose and take photos! What a bonus! Some stops were to get shots of the Goose at different scenic stops while others allowed us to photograph the steam engine train which was traveling a distance behind us. This stop was in the Wolf Creek area below Windy Point at about 9800" elevation.
