El Capitan Peak Guadalupe Mountains National Park
This beautiful vista can be seen when traveling northeast on Hwy 180/62 in West Texas with El Paso to the West and Carlsbad, NM to the North. We usually plan a stop at the Road Side Picnic area wish warrants this scenic vista as there couldn't be a much better view for a break! The Guadalupe Mountains National Park has about 80 miles of hiking trails in which one of them ends on the summit of this peak...and no, I've never done that particular hike. We spend most of our time in the remote Dog Canyon area of the park where there are hiking trails that I can still do at this time in my life!
