Description
Eastern Phoebe Being Shy by Debra Martz Or not....just where it landed momentarily. Was happy to see it, if only for a short time, as it quickly flew further away. Captured this image in Port Aransas, Texas at Paradise Pond in January. Winter birds are returning but Paradise Pond is not so filled with trees as it was before Hurricane Harvey.
Cool Fact from allaboutbirds.org "In 1804, the Eastern Phoebe became the first banded bird in North America. John James Audubon attached silvered thread to an Eastern Phoebe's leg to track its return in successive years."

A wonderful shot of this always active bird, Debra! I love them and they eat bugs! Your beautiful image has been featured by Wild Birds Of The World, a nature photography group. L/F
Debra Martz replied:
For sure...they don't stop for long...and there were ample mosquitoes to keep it busy that day!! Thank you very much for the feature!
