Description
Common Gallinule Chick Thankful For The Food by Debra Martz What a sweet sight to see this baby and parent while bird watching at Leonabelle Birding Center in Port Aransas, Texas. Several chicks and their parents were near the entry onto the boardwalk. They would work at feeding themselves but were also very eager to have one of their parents feed them as well.
(From AllAboutBirds.com ... The Common Gallinule inhabits marshes and ponds from Canada to Chile. Vocal and boldly marked with a brilliant red shield over the bill, the species can be quite conspicuous. It sometimes uses its long toes to walk atop floating vegetation. This species was formerly called the Common Moorhen and is closely related to moorhen species in the Old World.)

The so ugly its cute syndrome! Thank you, it was a great moment and I could hardly leave....until they finally disappeared in the reeds!
