While traveling on hwy 68 from Espanola to Taos, we passed this museum. It was a turn the truck around now, please! We pulled into the parking lot and just as we started to walk around the outside of the museum, the owner came around the corner. He introduced himself and told us to look around all we wanted. So many vintage gas pumps, signs and other vintage memorabilia. After a while, he asked if we would like to look at his indoor collection and of course, the answer was yes.
Stepping inside my eyes lit up...that's where his top notch collection is including more gas pumps, signs, oil cans, maps, globes, clocks, neons, thermometers (we wanted to buy one but no...) and so much more!
Once back outside, he told us there was more on the other side of the building. No way can I list all of the vintage memorabilia we discovered and all organized by type of collection. We asked if the American Pickers had paid him a visit...he said, they've called and I told them I don't sell much and I don't sell 1/2 price either. :-)
The owner, Johnie Meier, is a former laser scientist from Los Alamos National Laboratory. Such a friendly man; we enjoyed visiting with him. Oh, the admission is free!
