Chessmen Ridge Overlook - Cedar Breaks - Utah by Debra Martz I had no idea what to expect when arriving at Cedar Breaks...just that it was a National Monument and within fairly close proximity to Zion National Park which was what brought us to the area. Firstly, the drive along hwy 14 was impressive with the climb in elevation and passing by old lava flows! But to arrive at the visitors center and walk out to the overlook at an elevation of 10,350 ft and see a huge amphitheater somewhat similar to Bryce Canyon National Park was a complete surprise. Normally I do research ahead of time and know a bit about what to expect. Finally, I was able to walk away from the first stop and continue on to all of the other overlooks. I've added a Teresa Wilson painted overlay to add more movement to the sky.
