Description
Sea Whip Coral by Debra Martz
When I first saw this type of coral on the beach of North Padre Island in south Texas, I thought it was trash....some type of twine or rope. I later learned that it is a soft type of coral, whip coral. Most often the sea whip coral that washes onto the beach is yellow, but once in a while some red. This coral was washing onto shore and as the water retreated it left the ends in almost straight lines.
